Today, Locus Map as a service no longer relies solely on the diligence of our programmers. You, the user, can influence its quality for others. Not only by your active participation in the OSM community, from which we draw a large part of the data for the creation of our maps but also by contributing in the form of photographing points of interest or rating and writing reviews of them directly through our app.
As you may already know, those of you who attach photos to LoPoints for others to see what the place and its surroundings look like earn 1 LoCoin for each approved photo. For now, we have not taken a similar step for reviews, as we are not yet sure if it would lead to quantity over quality here.

Ich finde die Rabattaktionen nett aber ich würde nur eine normale Kaufoption nutzen. Warum gibt's Locus 4 nur als Abo?

Stimme voll zu. Ich zahle für eine Software/ Produkt und nutze es. Verlangt einen ordentlichen Öreis, liefert ein ordentliches Produkt und ich zahle.... einmal!
Updates müssen auch irgendwie bezahlt werden? Oder willst du auf dem Stand stehen bleiben, den du damals gekauft hast?
Bin seit Anfang an Locus Nutzer, erst 3 dann seit 2015 Pro, seit 2.5 Jahren Gold und hab auch kein Problem mit dem Abomodell und find den Preis absolut fair. Der Sprung von 3 auf 4 war wirklich ein Meilenstein in der Entwicklung, insbesondere das User Interface. Leider muss ich sagen, dass sich in den Jahren die ich 4 nutze featuretechnisch nichts für mich relevantes hinzugekommen ist. Vielleicht wird ja im Hintergrund am nächsten großen Wurf gearbeitet, wer weiß. Aber wenn ich vergleiche wie am Anfang der Entwicklung von Locus 3, vmtl im wesentlichen von Menion alleine, mit jeder Version Feature reingekloppt wurden, ist schon etwas traurig, dass es jetzt wo man auch noch regelmäßig zahlt vergleichsweise zäh vorangeht. Trotzdem ist Locus immer noch bei weiten die beste Outdooranwendung.
Normalerweise denke ich auch so, da ich Abos nicht mag. Berücksichtige ich aber die vielen Updates, den einmalig guten Service bei Fragen und die unglaublich vielen Features, die ich woanders nicht bekomme, halte ich die 30€ im Jahr für mein Gold Abo sehr fair und zahle den Betrag gerne. Das Kosten/Nutzen Verhältnis passt bei Locus!
Eine Software-Firma kann mit Dauerlizenzen nicht überleben (in einem Markt der nicht massiv expandiert). Einmal-Kauf funktioniert gut mit Sachen die vollständig kaputt gehen ...
Stimme ich zu. Was tun, wenn jeder einmal die Software gekauft hat? Alle Leute entlassen und Support dieser genialen App einstellen?

Unfortunately I don't get the discount,if I try to activate the gold edition over the Google play store, although it's saying that I can get it for the discounted price.

Locus Map 3 Classic je sice stále dostupný pouze za jednorázovou platbu, je ale pouze v režimu údržby a již se dále nevyvíjí, jelikož způsob jeho financování je pro jeho další rozvoj neudržitelný. Software s neustálým průběžným vývojem, uživatelskou podporou, doprovodnými službami (cloudové úložiště, serverové služby apod.), nezřídka provozovanými na zařízeních a službách třetích stran, bohužel není sádrový trpaslík, kterého si koupíte jednou a pak vám před domem stojí dvacet let. My navíc, narozdíl od Mapy.cz, nemáme za sebou miliardový byznys Seznamu - veškerý vývoj a provoz financujeme ze zdrojů od našich uživatelů. Bez nich by Locus Map nemohl nadále existovat. Takže děkujeme za pochopení a podporu :)
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Of all the utilities my phone has to offer, after using it Locus is the one I am the most grateful for existing.

The geocaching features are much better in v3.
From my point of view, v4 has no functions that justify a subscription.

Hi, could you give us more details? What exactly is worse in LM 4 regarding geocaching? There are the same fetures plus many more comparing to LMClassic (built-in GC search, live map - no need for add-ons, etc.).

Ich muss da mal eine Lanze für das Locus-Team und das Abo brechen!
Ich bin zwar auch kein Freund von Abos, aber:
- ich kenne wenige bis keine Software, die so aktiv weiterentwickelt wird
- so einen erstklassigen Support bietet
- im Vergleich Kosten/Features so viel bietet
Android-Entwicklung beinhaltet so viele Hürden, da jeder Anbieter sein Süppchen kocht und Anwendungen damit z.T. torpediert (Stichwort Akku-Einsparung) und die Entwickler müssen das alles berücksichtigen!
Das Gold-Abo kostet lediglich 24€/Jahr, 2€/Monat, 7ct/Tag! Beim Silber-Abo ist es die Hälfte (und das tut es vermutlich für die meisten Anwender).
Ich hab am Anfang auch die Nase gerümpft wegen des Abos - inzwischen zahle ich es gerne, da ich Locus sehr häufig nutze.
Entwicklung kostet Geld, die Infrastruktur kostet Geld und die Leute müssen ein Auskommen haben!
Auch wenn man kein Freund von Abos ist sollte man das doch bitte nochmal durch den Kopf gehen lassen.

Way back i bought Locus for 5€ in 2011.
I have been getting value out of it all these years and I am grateful for tgis amazing product. So of course I'd be willing to spend a bit more.
But if I calculate back even 10€ annually I'd have spend 140€ by now. How am I supposed to justify that? I know the only reason silver is 10€ is because some people are willing to spend that but at this point I'm not one of them it's just way too much if I'm going to pay it yearly for the foreseeable future.
Es ist nicht zuviel. Die Entwicklung kostet Geld und muss bezahlt werden.
Du kannst auch bei der kostenlosen Version bleiben.

Ja das Abo kostet. Nutze seit längerem Gold und genieße die damit verbundenen Vorzüge. Klar dass das alles nicht umsonst sein kann! Fände ich 1x Zahlung besser? Unterm Strich denke ich kommt man mit regelmäßigen Upade, die dann aber natürlich etwas kosten auf einen ähnlichen Preis. Also ist das Update nur "gefühlt" teurer. Für das Unternehmen aber viel besser zu kalkulieren. Und mal "Hand auf's Herz": 23€/Jahr für das Gebotene ist absolut angemessen. Wer die Funktionen nicht haben will, zahlt weniger. Für jeden Geldbeutel ist eine Option dabei. Ich würde Locus nicht mehr missen wollen. Ganz ganz großartiges Stück Software. Vielen Dank an die Entwickler. Auf ein weiteres Jahr mit Euch!

Als bekennender Abo-Ablehner, den Adobe, Zoner, Microsoft und andere Anbieter wegen deren Abo-Politik verloren haben, möchte ich auch eine Lanze für Locus brechen:
Nach kurzem zögern bin ich ziemlich früh auf das Gold-Abo umgestiegen und bereue keinen Cent.
Für den Gegenwert von nicht einmal einer Tasse Kaffee monatlich habe ich jede Menge Spaß und Nutzen.

Without a subscription, LOCUS will be bankrupt after 2 years at the latest. Then the one-off payments will be used up by costs (personnel, etc.) and the decreasing number of new customers will no longer cover the running costs.
Give me a one time payment for locus 4 and I'll consider it. I'm fed of subscriptions and I avoid them if I can. It doesn't have to be cheap, just give the option. In the meantime I'll stick to classic. Thanks.
Ich bin selber Programmierer. Wie soll Software auf Dauer funktionieren, wenn man nur einmal dafür zahlen muß? Ihr bekommt dann Software, bei der es klar ist, dass sie irgendwann nicht mehr läuft. Dann wird wieder genörgelt, die würde ja gar nicht gepflegt werden. Ob man Abo nun mag oder nicht, viel Intelligenz gehört kaum dazu, zu begreifen, dass es anders gar nicht funktionieren kann! Beim B2B ist das seit Jahren der normale Zustand, nur unsere geizige Gesellschaft möchte ja nicht einen Cent zuviel ausgeben, aber top Software haben. Es ist wirklich so unendlich traurig, als ob die paar Euro im Jahr für so eine Top Software wirklich teuer wären. Wer es anders will, kauft sich halt irgendeine Software die nur einmalig kostet. Ach, gibt es nicht, wie überraschend...
I usually upgrade all my preferred software each year. And that may cost more than a subscription. But I'm fine. And... I'm a programmer myself and doing it for work. Want to know how to move you users to upgrade to each release? Simply innovate. What's the point in subscribing to a piece of software that never changes? I always upgrade the maps I use every year and I'm fine. This is a service I appreciate and pay for. If I decide that an old map is fine for me then I stop paying. Where's the problem? Do you fear you cannot keep your users without forcing them to subscribe? Maybe it's not the work for you.
Hi Umberto, development of an Android/iOS app, is dependent on the business conditions provided by Google Play and/or Apple AppStore. Both platforms do not provide the system you propose - they either offer free apps, apps for a single payment (containing all subsequent updates) or subscribed apps, including apps funded by time-limited one-off payments. There is no option to sell each app update for an extra price. Under such conditions, Locus Map as a complex software with cloud (and other network services) is dependent on sustainable financing only provided by subscription.

I understand that the app stores don't allow for upgrade pricing. But this is a store issue. I obviously will pay cloud services if i use them, but i'd just want to upgrade to LocusMaps 4 for the interface and i'm not so interested in cloud service. I'd buy maps on demand as long as i need them. Ask me several years subscription cost in one single shot (50-60 euros?) but give me a lifetime license. If you add new features ask me an in-app purchase, if i like the new feature i'd be happy to pay for it.
Too bad the subscription is "the new way" just because it's easier for developers. But it's too easy for users being trapped in a loop of small fees that will drain your wallet in no time (netflix, prime, adobe, ecc ecc). When i have an option i choose not to subscribe. Call me "olg thinking guy" but as long there is freedom of choice, that's it.

we hear you, thanks for your feedback. We keep evaluating new possibilities in our offerings in order to more users be able to enjoy all the new stuff on which we are working on. But it is tough call as we don't want to complicate our (already quite complex) Premium offer too much, must meet criteria of our main platforms where we distribute the apps and so on.
Even Android itself is still quite rapidly evolving in terms of requirements for the apps, so every year, we spend lots of resources only to maintain full compatibility with latest updates. Some users, like you - I believe, would understand this, but others might not and give us quite hard time after they get new Android update on their devices breaking their favorite app. But not only that, the online world is quickly evolving too nowadays and new security issues are identified every now and then. In order for us to support older versions other than by recommending everyone to get the latest versions (for free), we would need to spent even more time on maintain part then innovating. And you know where the bigger fun is for both sides. :) And yeah staying only with Locus Classic in our portfolio, we would be going full maintenance mode only by now, if even that.
So again, thank you and everyone else for the feedbacks, it is definitely not closed topic for us yet. But we are part of the modern online world and the pressure driving us to particular solutions to maintain competitive is definitely there.
BTW, just to be sure though, are you aware, you can purchase Premium in LM4 even without subscription? We offers also one-time activations for several time-periods (up to year), which might be closer to your liking then subscription.

Ich nutze zwar (bisher) alles kostenlos, aber im Laufe der steigen ja auch die Ansprüche.
Die Testphase für gold würde ich gern mal nutzen; so 2 - 4Wochen wären genug.
Aber woher bekomme ich den Zeitraum?

Hi, the geocaching tools originally provided by Geocaching4Locus add-on only were implemented during the past year - search for nearby geocaches with filters, GC download, download by GC code, Live map... The tools are available to Premium users - Silver included. Premium Gold is available for free for three months now (if you don't cancel it by the time, it continues with 50% discount if you are an owner of Locus Map Classic). You can start the Premium from the main menu > Go Premium.
